GOVT. ASKS PRESIDENT TO ENDORSE TWO ORDINANCES TO ESCAPE BLACKLISTING Kathmandu, 3 May: Amid possibility the country may be blacklisted if measures aren’t taken by June, government Thursday decided to forward two ordinances on anti-money laundering (second amendment)-2070 BS to President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav for promulgation. The ordinances are on ‘Confiscation of property earned by those involved in money laundering and Terrorist Financing, said Minister for Information and Communications and government spokesperson, Madhav Poudel. nnnn DR, CHIRANJIVI NEPAL ADVISOT AT FINANCE MINISRY Kathmandu, 3 May: Dr. Chiranjivi Nepal has been appointed advisor at the Ministry of Finance. The cabinet appointed him Thursday. He was a former advisor at the foreign and labour ministries. He was also chairman of Security Board of Nepal. Nnnn ADB LOAN FOR VALLEY WASTE MANAGEMENT Kathmandu, 3 May The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan assistance of US$ 80 million to modernize and expand the wastewater network and treatment facilities in the Kathmandu Valley, Asian Developmnt Bank (ADB) said. “Better and broader sewage and wastewater systems will improve health and living conditions and reduce river pollution in the Kathmandu Valley where the population has vastly outgrown the existing wastewater network,” said Manoj Sharma, senior urban development specialist in ADB’s South Asia Department. This project, will be completed in 2018 by rebuilding or laying around 514 kilometers of sewer lines and modernize and expand five wastewater treatment plants. The effort will increase the treatment capacity from around 16 million liters per day to around 90 million liters per day. nnnn
