JAPANESE RECOD ON EVEREST MAY LAST ONLY DAYS
Kathmandu, 24 May: Thursday’s record of 80-year-old Japanese
climber Yuchiro Miura as the oldest person to stand atop the
the 8848 meters Mount Everest may not stand long.
The same day in the Nepalese capital, the government that shares the peak with Chinaa, gave its clearance to Min Bahadur Serchance waiting at the foot of the peak to set off to reclaim his title from the Japanese.
The government also chipped in one million rupees for the effort.
Miyra claimed the record for the oldest person to climb Everest from Serchan who
Climbed the peak in 2—8 when he was 76.
