LEARN FROM PAST MISTAKES SAYS REGMI
Kathmandu, 5 May: Interim Election Council Chairman Khil Raj Regmi Friday said that the current government was committed to holding the Constituent Assembly (CA) election as it was formed for the same purpose, The Rising Nepal reports from Kavre.
Speaking at the 63rd meeting of Kathmandu University (KU) here, he said that support and cooperation from all was needed to make the upcoming CA poll free, fair and result-oriented.
“The people are disappointed over the failure to promulgate new constitution from the dissolved CA in the past,” he said, urging everyone to move ahead with positive outlook by learning lessons from the past mistakes.
He suggested the political parties to collectively head towards the election stating that the repetition of past mistakes would lead the country nowhere
On a different note, he said that education was a must for social development and transformation.
Chairman Regmi, who is also the chancellor of KU, underscored on the need for addressing the aspirations of educated youths as per their qualifications and capabilities.
“It is essential to create right employment opportunities for the unemployed educated manpower for the development and prosperity of the nation,” said Chairman Regmi, and added that the mechanisms dedicated to public services were not sufficiently mobilized in the absence of targeted achievements compared to that of investment in education sector.
Acknowledging the failure on part of the state to reap benefits from the qualified educated manpower, he said that political stability was a key to drive the nation towards right direction.
Speaking on the occasion, vice-chancellor of KU Dr. Ram Krishna Makaju illustrated about the ongoing progress of the University and possibility of extension of new programmes in future.
The programme was also attended by Education Minister Madhav Ghimire.
