LOKENDRA BAHADUR CHAND, RAJESHWOR DEVKOTA
FORMING NEW PARTY DISAGREEING WITH RPP’S REPUBLICAN AGENDA
Kathmandu, 7 May: Former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand and
Rajeshwor Devkota are forming a separate amid differences with RPP and
Rashtriya Janashakti Party (RJP) meeting 17 May to launch a united
party .with a republican agenda.
The parties were launched by former panchas.ss0
Chand and Devkota opposed a republican agenda of RPP and RJP,
The Chand, Debkora walkout comes at a time amid reports former
panchayat government chiefs Dr..Tulsi Giri and Marich Man Singh are
also launching a party with a monarchy agenda while disagreeing with Kamal Thapa of RPP-Nepal which advocates a Hindu state and constitutional monarchy..
Dr..Giri recently returned from India and plns to settle down n Nepal.

GOLD SLIPS RS.500 PER TOLA
Kathmandu, 8 May: Gold price fell Rs. 500 per tola Wednesday
Compared to Tuesday.
Gold was being traded for Rs. 51,800 per tola while silver price
remained unchanged at Rs.900 per tola.

DETAILS OF LOKMAN SINGH KARKI APPOINTMENT
Kathmandu, 8 May: Protests were held in front of the official
residence of President Dr, Ram Baran Yadav to protest the appointment
of Lokman Singh Karki as CIAA chief Wednesday.
There were no protests against appointments in other constitutional bodies.
Former chief of Nepal Bar Association Sambhu Thapa and other ‘civil
society’ members were arrested from Shital Niwas area.
Acting Chief Justice Damodar Prasad Sharma administered oath of office
and secrecy in the presence of Chairman of Interim Election Council
Khil Raj Regmi and the president.

NC PRESIDENT AND MAOIST CHIEF DISCUSSIONS
Kathmandu, 8 May: NC President Sushil Koirala and Maopist Chairman
Prachanda held discussions at the Koirala residence Wednesday and discussed current issues.
They were assisted by aides.
They agreed to ask government to create an environment for
constituent assembly elections.

TWO MOTORCYCLISTS KILLED IN NAWALPARASI
Kathmandu, 8 May: Two motorcyclists were killed in a collision with an unidentified
vehicle overnight at Chainpur in Nawalparasi overnight.
Cakuram Chaudhary and Krishana Chaudhary.were killed, police said.

25 PARTIES REGISTERED WITH ELECTION COMMISSION
Kathmandu, 7 May: Twenty-0five parties have registered with the election commission for constituent assembly elections ntil Tuesday, election officials said.
Parties already registered for previous elections have to re-apply with every vote even though they will get the same election symbol.

CURFEW IN BAJURA WITHDRAWN
Kathmandu, 8 May: A curfew in Bajura district headquarter was
withdrawn three hours after it was slapped at three in the afternoon
Tuesday for 15 hours.
Parties called off their three-day agitation after government assurance development programmes will be implemented, including construction of a bailey bridge over Budi Gandaki.
The curfew was slapped following widespread violence in which 13
persons were injured and protestors vandalized government
buildings.
Police resorted tofiri8ngs and loved teargas shells to quell riots.
