MASSIVE VOTE FRAUD IN STUDENT ELECTIONS Kathmandu, 19 May:: Different student organizations began making hullabaloo after various media have reported the forged student admissions overnight spending millions of rupees, RSS reports.. All the student organizations affiliated to the major three political parties, the Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, and CPN (UML), began to pile accusations and counter accusations on each other and tried to prove them clean. Speaking at an interaction organized by the Reporters´ Club in the capital today, the students not only accused each other but also vowed to discard student politics if they had committed such a crime. Chairman of All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-Revolutionary) close to UCPN-Maoist, Himal Sharma said the Free Students Union election was defamed for encouraging corruption, hooliganism, adding that admitting the students keeping in view the election should be stopped. He said, "I would resign from the student politics if any one proved that the ANNISU-R has admitted students en masse in a wrong way." He stressed the need of coordination among the student organizations to make the FSU elections more systematic and fair. Similarly, Chairman of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) close to UML, Madhav Dhungel, said ANNFSU expresses concern over students´ admission en masse and in irregular manner. He was of the opinion that the students´ admission that is being made in an illegal way should be stopped. He said the admission that were made intentionally and illegally should be canceled. Likewise, President of the Nepal Students Union, Ranjeet Karna, said to go in the FSU election that is held by encouraging irregularities and hooliganism admitting the forge students would not give a good message and that such acts should be discouraged. NSU is ready to get defeated but is not for election held admitting fake students, he said. Chairman of the ANNISU-Revolutionary affiliated to Mohan Baidya group of the CPN-Maoist, Sharad Rasaili, said the FSU election that is held admitting the forged students would have no meaning at all and that his student organization would not participate in such an election. Chairman of the Madhesi Students´ Forum –Democratic, Nepal, Kapileshwor Yadav, and Chairman of the Madhesi Students´ Forum Nepal, Ashok Yadav, claimed that the student organizations close to major political parties have made the FSU a corrupt organization rather than establishing it as one struggling for students´ rights. nnnn GOVT. TALKS WITH SP POSITIVE Kathmandu, 19 May: The talks held between the Rajendra Mahato-led Sadbhawana Party and the government has moved ahead in a positive direction. The talks with the party's president Mahato is heading towards a positive direction and a conclusion is expected by Monday, said Government Spokesperson Madhav Prasad Paudel. Talking to reporters following the talks, Poudel, who is also Minister for Information and Communications, said the meeting today reviewed the demands of the party and concluded with a decision to meet again tomorrow. Today's talks following the talks on Friday has given us a hope for a positive result by tomorrow, he added. Responding to media persons' query about Mahato's announcement of a hunger strike, he said the Government has requested him to not to do so, and added that he was confident that Mahato would accept the government request for the same. The party has put forth a ten-point demand including formation of the electoral constituency delineation commission and announcement of the elections date. To exert pressure on the government for the fulfillment of the demands, the party's national spokesperson Santosh Mehta and Sunsari District Vice-chair Devraj Yadav are on a hunger strike at Inaruwa since May 2. Nnnn UPDATE SURYA BAHADUR THAPA ELECTED RPP CHAIRMAN KAathmandu, 19 May: Surya Bahadur Thapa Sunday was elected chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party after unification with Rastriya Janashakti Party of which Thapa was the chief. Former Prime Minister Thapa is 85. His name was proposed at a unity convention by RPP Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana at a closed session of the party.. Former Premier Lokendra Bahadur Chand and Prakash Chandra Lohani seconded Rana's proposal. nnnn
