UPDATE MAHOTO CALLS OF HUNGER STRIKE Kathmandu, 26 May: The talks held between the government and the Rajendra Mahato-led Sadbhawan Party concluded successfully on Sunday, RSS reports.. As a result, the party has also called up the fast-unto-death involving its leaders including President Mahato. Co-president Laxman Lal Karna had led the party in the talks held with the government at the Peace Fund Secretariat today. The government has agreed to address the ten points demand of the party. Talking to journalists following the talks, Mr Karna said the government agreed to address our demands and so we have called off the fast-on-to-death. Likewise, Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Prasad Poudel said the government is committed to announcing the date of the elections and forming the electoral constituency delimitation commission. Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire and Minister for Health and Population Bidhyadhar Mallik were also present at the talks. Later in the night, the Ministers offered juice to Mr Mahato and other leaders of the party staging a fast-unto-death at Shanti Batika Ratna Park. Nnnn RAXI FARES THROUGH SMS Kathmandu, 26 May: Taxi riders in Kathmandu can now get the official rate of their travel within the valley by just sending a SMS, thanks to a new service initiated by the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, RSS reports.. According to information shared at a press conference here Sunday, one can receive a text message by sending a SMS to 4321, typing taxiratelocationlocation . Likewise, a complaint can also be sent using the same number and typing taxitaxinumberdescription. The users will be charged Rs. 2 for Nepal Telecom subscribers and Rs. 3 for Ncell and UTL subscribers for the service available round the clock. The taxi fare information is currently available for 106 routes in the valley. On the occasion, a CD including compilation of songs about traffic rules and ways to save oneself from road accidents was also released. nnnn
