ELECTION COMMISSION READY TO REGISTER PARTIES AGAIN WITH PARTY CONSENSUS SAYS COMMISSIONER GURUNG Kathmandu, 11 June: Election Commissioner Dolakh Bahadur Gurung has said the EC was ready to resume the party registration process if the agitating parties come to a consensus, RSS reports.. Speaking at an event in the capital on Tuesday, he said if the dissenting parties come to a consensus and is endorsed by other parties and government the party registration process could resume. Commissioner Gurung emphasized that participation of all the political parties was essential for the validity and reliability of the elections. So far, 11.75 million voters have already registered themselves and is still going on in an encouraging way ahead, he added. It was unfortunate that local body elections could not be held even in 17 years, he said and added the Commission was ready to hold the local elections too if given responsibility for the same.
