PRESIDENT, SUSHIL KOIRALA MEET
Kathmandu, 5 June: NC President Sushil Koirala and President Dr. Ram
Baran Yadav are holding consultations Wednesday on election related issues
to conduct seconds constituent assembly elections.
Talks are being held one day after the head of state held similar
dialogue with UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal.
Dr Yadav asked Khanal to forge agreement of election laws to conduc
polls by mid-December.
Parties are agreed only on the strength of a 491 member assembly.
Government is waiting for agreement on election issues between the Big
Three and a Madesh Morcha to announce official date for a vote.
Thirty-three parties oppose elections amid speculation elections
may not take place even in mid-December as well.
NC’s Dt, Minendra Rijal said Tuesday he was skeptical a vote would be held at the end of the year.
He is member of a eight member task force of the Big Three and Madesh Morcha to suggest resolution of differences.
The task force was unable to resolve differences in two meetings and
referred the issues back to the four political parties.
