HONOUR Kathmandu, 6 June: The government has honoured players of the Nepali National Cricket Team with cash prizes today. The team was successful in entering in ´Division-2´ being the champions of ´Division-3´ of the ICC World Cricket League held in Bermuda, RSS reports. At a programme organised at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Minister for Youth and Sports, Ram Kumar Shrestha, honoured players, coaches and physiotherapists with Rs. 350,000 each. Minister Shrestha stressed on the need of increasing the budget of the prize in the days ahead. He said he would try his best not to deduct the taxes on the cash prize to be provided to players in further days. Stating that the government has highly valued the success of the players, Minister Shrestha said that the Ministry and National Sports Council (NSC) would move ahead by collaborating with each other in infrastructure development of cricket. On the occasion, he said that initiatives were underway with donor agencies for the construction of a stadium of international standard. Captain of the cricket team, Paras Khadka, said such type of honour and prize would boost the morale of the players and it would also influence on their performance. nnnn SLC RESULT SOON Kathmandu, 6 June: The Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE), Sanothimi is making preparations to publish the SLC results within next two weeks. According to OCE, from this year it is not publishing the results of the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations in newspapers by paying feesm RSS reports.. Deputy Examination Controller Pralhad Aryal said the OCE took this decision as publishing the results in newspapers entailed extra financial burden and as the website and the Internet services itself was more effective in disseminating the results. It is stated that the OCE has increased the capacity of its website this year and the results could be accessed at more than seven different Internet sites and through SMS. Aryal also said that the OCE would be saving about three million rupees annually by taking this measure from this year. He, however, said that the newspapers could publish the SLC results if they wanted to do so free of charge. nnnn
