USE OF AIRCRAFT VIOLATES ELECTION CODE OF CONDUCT SAYS ELECTION CHIEF Kathmandu, 24 June:: Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kanth Uprety has said that the proposed election code of conduct has provided that no political parties and leaders can use helicopter and plane for election campaigning, RSS reports.. Use of graffiti, banner and feasts in an extent to influence the voters was also against the election code of conduct. CEC Uprety said this at a discussion about the draft of the election code of conduct with the stakeholders in the Capital on Monday. The Commission began the discussion with stakeholders on the proposed draft of the election code of conduct in view of the coming CA election. CEC Uprety further said that the discussion was held as part of expediting election preparation and giving full shape to the draft code of conduct. As per the proposed code, the candidate for direct election can spend Rs 1 million while the candidate for proportional election is allowed to spend only Rs 100,000. Anyone found violating the code of conduct would have his candidacy automatically invalidated and disqualified from taking part in any election for six years. Fine up to Rs 100,000 has been proposed against the violator of the code of conduct, added election commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav. nnnn
