UPDATE GOVT. AGREEABLE TO ROUNDTABLE DEMAND OF CPN MAOIST

Kathmandu, 8 July: Government is agreeable to a CPN Maoist precondition for a roundtable conference for conducting the 19 November assembly elections.
This was agreed Monday at a meeting between Chairman Regmi and Gachedhar.
But government rejected a demand for rescheduling the 19 November
vote.

PRESIDENT BRIEFED ON BUDGET

Kathmandu, 8 July: Finance Minister Shanker Prasad Koirala Monday
beefed President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on the budget 2013/14.
Economic advisors and two secretaries assisted Koirala.
The new financial year begins 16 July.
For the first time in three years, a complete budget will be presented
in three years by a government of retired civil servants headed by the
chief justice in the absence of parliament.
Energy sector is  being prioritized in the budget.
