OPPOSITION FORMALLY INVITED FOR TALKS

July: Government Thursday formally formally
invited the 33 poll-opposing parties including
CPN-Maoist for talks
as the parties oppose the November second
constituent assembly elections.
The invitation came following a cabinet
meeting.
The HLPM Wednesday invited opposition for talks
to discuss a
demand for roundtable talks.
The cabinet issued an appeal to opposition
and said demands could be discussed at the
negotiating table.
The government also asked opposition to join the
election fray.
The cabinet welcomed the talk team led by
CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya.

ARMY CHIEF LEAVES FOR CHINA FRIDAYnnnn
Kathmandu, 18 July: Army Chief. Gen. Gaurav Shumsher Rana is leaving for China Friday on a week-long visit at the invitation of the Chief of General Staff of China’s People’s Liberation Army, General Fang Fenghui.
He heada a five-ember delegation.
The chief returns home 28 July.
Gen. Rana has already visited India which conferred on his the rank of hoourarygeneral of the Indian Army.
