SECURITY ENHANCED AT BIRTHPLACE OFTHE BUDDHA
Kathmandu, 13July: Following the string of blasts in
Bodhgaya of India, the security in Lumbini, a famous Buddhist shrine in Nepal,
has been boosted,RSS reports from Butwal..
The District Police Office, Bhairahawa, has said only armed police were mobilized for the security in Lumbini and the vicinity, but now the security is augmented in the area. Deputy Superintendent of Police in the district, Hari Bahadur Pal, said that a special security arrangement was made in the Lumbini area, one of the most revered Buddhist pilgrim sites of the world.
According to him, 30 police persons in the command of a police inspector were added in the area while some border areas and checkpoints have more number of security persons in plain clothes.
Similarly, the Lumbini Development Trust has said Kapilvastu, Ramgram and other places which are related to the Buddha are under high security watch.
The Trust further said every tourist is checked thoroughly and allowed entering the area in view of the security. Even the internal security is beefed up, Trust Treasurer Om Prakash Aryal said.
An emergency meeting of the Trust three days ago had decided about augmenting the security for immediate and long-term purpose in the Lumbini area.

Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, has garlanded the statue of the Adikavi
Bhanubhakta Acharya on the premises of the Darbar High School
in the capital city this morningm RSS reports..
On the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary of Adikavi Acharya´s today, many Nepali literati garlanded Adikavi´s statue amidst a programme organized jointly by various literary organizations, including the Banu Bicentenary Celebration Ceremony, Bhanu Foundation and Nepal Education Council. Amar Chitrakar had carved the Adikavi´s bust under the direction of dramatist Bal Krishna Sam in 2016 BS. The bust is of special significance, as it was the first statue of the pioneering poet Bhanubhakta Acharya created in the country. Born in Asar 29 in 1871BS at Chudiramgha of Tanahu, a hilly district in the western region of Nepal, Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya is famous for the translated version of spiritual Ramayan in Nepali. It was earlier in Sanskrit language. The Nepali version of the spiritual Ramayan is an evergreen literature which established Acharya as a bard among Nepalis. Considering this contribution, poet Motiram Bhatta conferred him the title of Adikavi (pioneering poet) and Kavi Chakrachudamani. Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya is honoured as a national luminary.The simplicity of Nepali Ramayan is the ornament of the book which lures every common Nepali. The book has a great value in Nepali language and literature. On the same occasion, a morning rally was organized in the capital city. Similarly, news stories about celebration of the Bhanu Jayanti have come from different parts of the country. |

MINISTER IN BP KORALA’S CABINET DEAD

July: Prem Raj Angdembe, A NC leader and former
agriculture minister, died Saturday in the capital.
He was 84.
Angdembe was minister in the cabinet of BP Koirala.
The left behind two sons and two daughters.
