SALE OF HIMALAYAN VIAGRA THROUGH  TENDERS GENERATES MORE PROFITS
Kathmandu, 5 July: Local people in Mudi VDC in the district have got a good price for their Yarchagumba (Cordyceps sinensis) this year after a local club sold the precious herb through a tender process, The Kathmandu Post reports from Myagdi...
The Dhaulagiri Pratham Youth Club in the village collected 10 kilograms of Yarchagumba at the rate of Rs 1.55 million per kg. An employee at the club said they sold Yarchagumba through the tender process in order to ensure that villagers get good price for their herb by avoiding commission for the middlemen. Dinesh KC, a Yarchagumba trader vying to purchase the herb, said he could not buy Yarchagumba from the club as he was ready to pay only Rs 1.53 million per kg. “The villagers, however, got a good price for their herb,” he said.
Officials at the District Forest Office (DFO), however, said the club is yet to pay tax for the sale of Yarchagumba through the tender process. They said the DFO collected revenue from the sale of only seven kilograms of Yarchagumba in villages except Mudi this year.
District Forest Officer Yam Bahadur Rumba said he has directed the authorities concerned to collect tax from the sale and officially record the transaction.
Yarchagrumba trader Dalman Pun said they are preparing to transport the herb purchased from the club to Kathmandu in a helicopter after registering the transaction in the DFO. Yarchagumba traders said at least 35 kilograms of the herb is collected from VDCs such as Gurja, Mudi, Chimkhol in the western region of the district every year.
