Jabahar Mansuri, Moem Mansuri and Sabir Mansur of Khairawa village of Sitamadhi district of India, accused of involvement in abduction of Umesh Yadav of Pokharbhindasgram-2 of the same district, have been remanded into custody as per the order of the Mahottari District Court. A special team of the Crime Investigation Branch of the District Police Office, Mahottari, arrested them from Bhitthamod entry point, bordering India on June 3. Superintendent of Police at the Office, Pawan Prasad Kharel, claimed that the arrestees are the mastermind of the abduction of Umesh. Police also seized a motorcycle (Ja 4 Pa 3256) from them. Search for other nine persons involved in the incident is underway, said police.Victim Umesh was released after five days of the abduction by paying ransom. A bird of Cheer species (pheasant) which is found only in Nepal, India and Pakistan has been found in the Rara National Park. The number of cheers is around 33 in the park, Park´s Acting Conservation Officer Bhogendra Raymajhi said. Annapurna Conservation Area, Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve and Api-Nampa Conservation Area are the home to Cheer birds. Nepal is a home to 272 species of birds, 51 species of mammals and 1,024 varieties of plants. Koirala, who is in United States of America in course of treatment, expressed the belief that finally the dissenting parties would participate in the election as there was no alternative to the election. Koirala expressed the belief at a programme organised by the Nepal -America Liaison Committee, associated with NC, at Jackson, New York. Stating that talks are underway with the leaders of the dissenting parties including the CPN-Maoist and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal for their participation in the election, he clarified that the NC is not against federalism but not in favour of ethnic-based federalism. On different note, Koirala said that the party would give election ticket to those candidates, who work in the district and are recommended by the constituency. Koirala, who is suffering from tongue cancer for the past few years, would undergo his regular medical check-up at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, it is learnt. At a party entry programme organised at Deuba residence at Budhanilkantha today, he said an environment should be created to hold the election by the government as there was no time to hold the election by forming another government. Stating that constitution should be promulgated from the CA, Deuba said that the dissenting parties should be brought to participate in the election by listening to their grievances. Some 50 people, associated with various political parties from different districts including Baitadi, Kailali and Kanchanpur, who joined the Nepali Congress, were welcomed at the programme organised by the Baitadi-Kathmandu Liaison Committee. The former Deputy Prime Minister said role of civil society and media persons was significant to convince the dissenting 33 political parties to take part in the election. The CPN-Maoist warning to go for people's revolt was just to deceive the people, he added. Responding to a query of journalists, leader Gachhadar said the Chief Election Commissioner has proposed for holding the local bodies' election in April next year. The incumbent government was constituted just for conducting the CA election; he said and urged one and all not to doubt that the election will not be held. The provision of 'One Madhes one province' was not suitable in Nepal due to its topography, he said, adding rather there might be Tharuhat in the west of Chitwan and Madhes state in the east of Parsa district. nnnn
