UCPN MAOIST CLOSE DOWN CHITWAN

Kathmandu, 31 July: UCPN Maoist closed down Chitwan Wednesday.
The party was protesting arrest of three YCL cadre Tuesday in the
central strategic district through which vehicles on national radio network passes.
Maoists charged their supporters were arrested without reason.

CHAINPUR BANDH

Kathmandu, 31 July: Locals of Chainpur have called for continuing a market shutdown for the second day on Wednesday in protest against the statement by the Local Development Officer, Lila Adhikari, RSS reports from Sankhuwasabha..

The Struggle Committee, Chainpur has been enforcing a Chainpur shutdown since Tuesday in protest against what it called an ´objectionable´ statement made by the LDO Adhikari. Adhikari is accused of making a statement that the proposed Chainpur Municipality was not viable.

The banda [shutdown] organizers halted vehicular movement in Chainpur Bazaar on Tuesday as part of their protest and have called for a complete shutdown of market and transport services in Baneshwar, Siddhakali, Siddhapokhari and Chainpur VDC areas Wednesday.
