UCPN MAOIST MEET RESUMES MONDAY

Kathmandu, 15 July: A UCPN Maoist meeting of top leaders resumes Monday to discuss internal differences, including giving special status to Baburam Bhattarai who resigned as party vice-chairman amid rival for top positions.

Bhattarai’s wife, Hishila Yami,, Sunday described Prachanda as the party’s father and Bhattarai the organizations mother.

Her husband, she said, resigned from party positions for the UCPN Maoist’s conso9lidation.

RSS reported Sunday:: The meeting of the UCPN-Maoist office-bearers, organisation department, bureau in-charges and state committee coordinators, scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed for Monday.

The meeting was postponed at the last moment today. It was supposed to prepare agendas for the Central Committee's extended meeting scheduled for Friday, July 19.

The meeting had to be postponed following a lack of agreement over the relinquishment of the post of Vice Chairman of the party by Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, according to UCPN-Maoist leader Haribol Gajurel.

The party is going to make a 'special arrangement' for Dr. Bhattarai, leader Gajurel said. He, however, did not elaborate what the special arrangement meant.

The meeting of the central office-bearers, held at Lazimpat-based residence of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal this morning, discussed the organisational structure of the party.

The party has internally reached an agreement apropos to Dr. Bhattarai and that will be presented before tomorrow's meeting, Gajurel added.
