KOSHI BARRAGE SLUICES OPENED TO RELEASE WATER
FOLLOWING HEAVY RAIN IN EAST

Kathmandu, 8 July: Biratnagar and other towns in east terai are waterlogged.
This follows heavy rain in the East overnight.
Water level in Sapta Koshi has increased forcing Indian authorities to open sluices of Kosshi barrage to release water.

SUPREME COURT SAYS EXECUTION OF NEPAL, INDIA
IMMIGRATION AGREEMENT

Kathmandu, 8 July: A single bench of the supreme court issued a stay
not to implement a Nepal-India agreement  to upgrade the immigration
system at Tribhuvan International Airport and set up Indian immigration
check-posts at Lumbini and Pashupatinath.
Home secretaries signed an agreement in the capital several weeks ago
during security talks.
Shri Prasad Pandit filed a writ Friday for court intervention to stop implementation of the agreement against the country’s sovereignty.
A bench of Justice Tarka Raj Bhatta issued the order Monday.

INDIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CURTAILS VISIT

Kathmandu, 8 July: Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshit
has shortened his two-day visit beginning Tuesday to nine hours only.
He will return to New Delhi the same day after holding talks with top government and party officials.
Khurshid will hold talks with Chairman Khil Raj regmi.
He’s coming at a time when India is pushing constituent
assembly elections in November.
