Kathmandu, 11 July Thirty-six of 52 sluices of the Koshi barrage were opened Thursday to release water in Shaptakoshi river following heavy rain the chatchment

area the eastern hills,

Water flow was 225,000 cusecs.

Monsoon rain has caused widespread death and destruction early in the rainy season.
