BHATTARAI SAYS HE RESIGNED TO MAINTAIN RULE OF LAW IN PARTY UPDATE

July: Vice-Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Baburam Bhattarai has said that
there was no truth on the rumor that his quitting of party post was due to
dispute surfaced in the party, RSS reports..
Talking to central office-bearers of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) on Monday, who reached his residence at Sanepa to pile pressure to withdraw his decision of discarding post, Bhattarai said he discarded post to maintain rule of law in the party and to prove that the greed of post is not good in Nepali politics. Bhattarai said that there was no any dispute in the party and he was ready to fulfill any responsibility of the party, said Vice-Chairman of ANNISU-Revolutionary, Jagrit Rayamajhi, quoting Bhattarai. Clarifying that there would be special contribution from his side to make the party united and disciplined, he said that he has not left the party and is still in party and added that he would engage specially to make the party in order. Central Committee of ANNISU-Revolutionary submitted a memorandum to Bhattarai urging him to withdraw the decision of quitting the post. |

NEARLY 100KG HASH SEIZED

July: Police have arrested two persons along with 93 kg of banned hashish
from different places in Parsa on Monday. Police seized 81 kg of hashish left
unattended from the bank of Sikta rivulet at
Tulsibarawa-,RSS reports from Bara. .
Similarly, two persons were arrested along with 12 kg of hashish from Shreepur.A patrol team of the Armed Police Force deployed from the Armed Police Border Base Camp, Bhishwa, seized the 81 kg of hashish and handed over to the Area Police Office, Pokhariya, for legal action, said Police Inspector Purushottam Pandey. Pandey said that smugglers ran away after throwing the hashish as the patrol team tried to seize the hashish going to be exported to India. Likewise, a team deployed from Zonal Police Office, Narayani, Birgunj, arrested Rusmahamda Ansari of Dewarbana VDC and Jogilal Saha of Shreepur along with 12 kg of hashish while bringing it to Birgunj hiding in bodies, according to In-charge of Ward Police Office, Shreepur, Police Inspector Ganesh Chand. Making the arrested public along with hashish, Inspector Chand said that 25 packets of hashish were seized from Ansari and Saha.Investigation into the case is underway, said police. |

CONSTRUCTION IN SWOYAMBHU PROTESTED
Kathmandu, 14 July : The Dharmodaya Sabha has
protested the digging of foundation and concretization by using dozer in a
stealthy manner to make a mane (a Buddhist structure) without permission by an
organization Nems Sendang Sewa Samaj at the sacred pre-historic site of
Swoyambhu, which is in the world heritage list.
The Sabha in a press communique stated that it was sad that no action has been taken so far on the person and organisation which has destroyed the heritage site by preparing a rod frame structure even if it was stopped by the by the District Admission Office Kathmandu and the Department of Archeology at the Swoyambhu premises.
