ONE MAJOR STEP TO HOLD ELECTIONS; OTHER MOVES
AWAITED  

Kathmandu, 11 July: Election commission tool a major initioative to conduct the 19 November elections Wednesday.
It enforced an election code of conduct for parties, officials, NGOs and media effective from 22 July.
The commission has now to complete a voter’s list
by Monday 15 July—the last date for 18-year-olds to  register for the 19 November second constituent assembly elections.
Several top leaders, including NC President Sushil Koirala, away in uSA for medical check-up, hasn’t registered for the vote yet as yet.
He’s expected to return Friday from USA and register with the
commission for the vote.
A five-member constituency delineation commission is redrawing 240 electoral constituencies for elections for which President Dr.Ram Baran
Yadav has to promulgate an ordinance with updated election laws.
The delineation commission is working on its recommendations for government after consulting parties and representatives of society.
The commission has been given 30 days to complete its recommendations.
Besides India and China, government and the commission have received strong moral and financial support from western countries for the vote.
The country is going for a vote amid skepticism even from leaders of
major parties pushing elections.
Suhata Koirala was one such leader.
CPN Maoist says it will boycott and disrupt the vote presenting five demands.
