DETAILS OF HLPM MEET  
Kathmandu, 12 Aug.: The High-Level Political Committee (HLPC) has decided to reach to conclusion by holding decisive talks with the dissenting parties by August 16, RSS reports..

The HLPC decided to reach to conclusion by holding talks with the front led by Chairman of the CPN-Maoist, Mohan Baidya, and another front led by Upendra Yadav, Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)-Nepal and still another front led by Ashok Rai, Chairman of the Federal Socialist Party by August 16 in order to hold the election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) on November 19.

A meeting of the HLPC held at New Baneshwor this morning, decided to hold talks with the fronts led by Yadav and Rai from tomorrow for the same.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to hold talks with the front led by Baidya tomorrow as far as possible.

The meeting also agreed to intensify other processes of election by the parties associated with HLPC as well as other parties participating in the CA election.

After the meeting, leader of the UCPN (Maoist), Narayankaji Shrestha, said that the meeting has decided to make the ongoing talks decisive by August 16.

Shrestha added that the meeting decided to hold table talks on different issues as the HLPC has forwarded talks without pre-condition although the HLPC has already made its common concept on the demands put forth by the dissenting parties.

He said the HLPC decided to finalize the ongoing talks with other political parties in order to hold CA election on the stipulated date.

Similarly, senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, said that the HLPC would hold talks with the fronts led by Yadav and Rai on Tuesday.

CPN-UML leader Raghuji Pant said decision was reached to finalize the talks early as the parties in HLPC will have to engage in creating election environment in their own constituencies with total focus on the election.

Parties in favor of election will go with a common concept on election and can not wait in talks for long, and we have not thought of postponing election, he said.

UCPN-Maoist leader Shrestha said discussion was held to urge the government if the process can be forwarded as the Truth and Reconciliation Ordinance has come on conflict-era incidents.

NC President Sushil Koirala briefed about his visit to India and CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal on his meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon during his US visit.
