Kathmandu, 16 Aug.: A woman
charged for witchcraft was beaten to death
Thursday night for alleged witchcraft at Supauli, Parsa,
police said.
Parvati Chaudhary, 45, was beaten and killed.
The husband and wife had planned to leave the village after
the accusation.

BIRD FLU ESTIMATED LOSS AT RS.7 BILLION
Kathmandu, 16 Aug.: Poultry farmers in Bhaktapur district have to
bear a loss of rupees seven billion, claimed Chairman of the Bhaktapur Poultry
Farmers' Association, Laxman Gwachha, RSS reports from Bhaktapur..
Speaking at an interaction on 'Bird Flu Crisis Hit Area Declaration' organised by Rafat Sanchar Club, Bhaktapur, on Friday, he said thousands of workers involved directly in this business for long have lost their jobs due to the bird flu.
The poultry sector contributes around four per cent share to the national economy.
Similarly, Chairman of the Poultry Farming Entrepreneurs' Association, Tulsiram Dhukhwa, claimed that the government has been delaying to destroy the infected chickens and poultry products in fear of providing more amount for the compensation thereby the bird flu effects had been severe across the country.
"Bird flu effect has been severe due to the negligence of the state," said Dhukhwa. "The government's wrong policy to control bird flu is responsible for it taking a severe form in Bhaktapur."
Advisor of the association, Dr. Balram KC, said the poultry farmers were hit hard as the government provided minimum compensation.
