INFORMATION CENTER IN LUMBINI
Kathmandu, 12 Aug.: An international level Visitor's Information Centre is to be constructed in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha at a cost of Rs. 210 million., RSS reports.

The building will have proper supply of drinking water, drainage, sanitation and waste management, said Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Spokesperson Mohan Krishna Sapkota.

The building will be built as per the Lumbini Development Trust Master Plan of the world heritage site, and an agreement for this project will be signed this week, he said.

The building will be built within two and half years after the agreement, in which, community participation, capacity building, international marketing of Lumbini and handicraft sales centre will be available, he said.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided the grant for the building under the South Asian Tourism Infrastructure Development Project.

Meanwhile, the government will call an international tender within August for the upgrading of the Gautam Buddha Airport under the same project.

The airport to be transformed as international level will be 45 meter wide and 3,000 meter long.

The ADB has been providing grant assistance in infrastructure for tourism of Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
