UCPN MAOIST CANDIDATES RECOMMENDED FROM ILAM FOR NOV.POLLS

central committee the names of 30 candidates for the upcoming Constituent
Assembly (CA) election under the direct and proportional system, RSS reports
from Mangalbare, Ilam..
A meeting of the committee that took place at the party office nominated five candidates each from one constituency under the direct system and five from proportional system, according to party district coordinator Dhirendra Sharma. There are three electoral constituencies in Ilam district. Talking to RSS, Sharma said the party central committee meeting scheduled to begin from August 27 is expected to finalise the names of candidates. Dhirendra Sharma, Yubaraj Poudel, Ram Rai, Dilli Chemjong and Tej Bahadur Tamang are among those nominated for the direct election, whereas Suryabala Rai, Tika Ghimire, Urmila Tamang and Umesh Adhikari, including others, have been recommended under the proportional system. -: 11 :- The UCPN (Maoist) is the first party announcing election candidacies in the district. The Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Rastriya Prajatantra Party, RPP-Nepal and Federal Limbuwan State Council are yet to announce the candidacies. CPN (UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal is expected to announce his candidacy from the Constituency No. 1, whereas former Speaker Subash ChandraNembang is likely to give his candidacy from the Constituency No. 2. The NC said that it has not yet determined the names of election candidates. |

MASS HYSTERIA IN DAMAULI SCHOOL
Kathmandu, 21 Aug.: Teachers and parents are worried after the girl students at the Janajukta Shahi Higher Secondary School at Sangey Nepaltar, Byas-6 here started falling unconscious all of a sudden, RSS reports from Damauli..
It is said that this has been happening at the school since the last three months and has shown no signs of stopping.
This kind of symptom has been repeatedly seen in as many as 11 girl students. On Tuesday, 13 girls fainted all of a sudden in the classroom, the school stated. The girl students complain of headache and nausea before falling unconscious, it is learnt.
A team of physicians from the District Health Office and the National Apollo Hospital examined these girls on August 12 and treated them. The medical team also gave psycho-social counseling to the girls and held interaction with the teachers and parents. The medical team said it was a case of mass hysteria .
