BOYCOTT WILL BE BOYCOTTED

Kathmandu 17 Aug.: UCPN-Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that country's major target was to conduct the Constituent Assembly (CA) election successfully slated for November 19, RSS reports..

Addressing a programme organised by the party's Kathmandu Election Constituency No. 1 for collecting suggestions to prepare the election manifesto on Saturday, Dr Bhattarai said those opposing the CA polls were not understanding the people's sentiments and aspirations.

The UCPN-Maoist)leader said that the November 19 CA election would not be postponed at any cost.

He also added that poll deferral would invite serious crisis in the country. "Upcoming election will hold on November 19 and the country will also get an outlet. All political parties are committed to this end," he argued.

The former prime minister also said that talks with the agitating parties led by the CPN-Maoist would be held honestly to bring them on board.

Dr Bhattarai added that those opposing the CA poll would be boycotted from the people and urged the parties concerned not to go beyond the people's sentiments.

The UCPN-Maoist leader ruled out the chances of drafting new constitution outside from the CA. "Out party's nationwide people's relations campaign has ignited new wave among the people. People have clearly known about the poll-opposing parties," Dr Bhattarai said.

Saying that he initiated efforts to resolve the squatters' problems in Kathmandu during his premiership, Dr Bhattarai accused CPN-UML leader Raghuji Panta and CPN-Maoist leader Pampha Bhusal of impeding the process for resettlement of the landless and squatters.

On a different note, Dr Bhattarai said that the Maoists would lodge complaints against the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML cadres on the charge of killing over 12,000 leaders in the insurgency period.

On the occasion, locals submitted suggestions for the UCPN-Maoist's election manifesto.

UCPN-Maoist central leader Keshav Nepal, central advisor Ram Nath Mainali and others also expressed their opinion during the programme.
