CPN MAOIST BURNING ELECTION CODE OF CONDUCT
Kathmandu, 1 Aug.: CPN
Maoist is burning copies of the election
code of conduct nation-wide Thursday opposing the 19
November second
constituent assembly elections.
The document enforced by the election commission
is being torched to demonstrate again the party’s opposition
to the vote
with the stats quo even as CPN Maoist expressed readiness to
talk
with government and parties supporting itto discuss five
demands for
voter participation.
The party publicly came out last week against elections by
smashing a
ballot box at Open Air Theatre in the capital described in a
belated
reaction by the commission as illegal.
The commission said an election code of conduct was violated—a
punishable offence.
The parties behind government went on a murder apree and
opposed local elections during the royal regime.
Now they favour elections.
Times have changed.
There is no uniformity of view on elections.

GOLD PRICE SLIPS AFTER RS.1,300 GAIN WEDNESDAY
Kathmandu, 1 Aug.: Gold
price slipped Rs.850 per tola Thursday after
gaining Rs,1,300 per tola one day earlier.
The yellow metal was trading for Rs. 53,050 per tola.
Silver price also fell Rs 10 per tola.
It was trading for Rs. 820 per tola.
UPDATE ON PRACHANDA, PRESIDENT TALKS
Kathmandu, 1 Aug. President
Dr. Ram Baran Yadav called for the
participation of all parties ion the 19 November poll at a meeting
with
Maoist Chairman Prachanda Thursday.
He sought details of talks between parties behind the
government and the opposition.
The head of state called for the creation of an election
environment.
Prachanda told the president talks were being with
opposition in
different phases and a breakthrough was expected.
Government chief held discussions with the president
Wednesday.

MAOISTS VANDALIZE AMBULANCE IN CHITWAN UPDATE
Kathmandu, 1 Aug. Maoist
vandalized an ambulance Thursday
in Chitwan which was closed down indefinitely .
Police were also attached during an indefinite bandh called
after six YCL
were arrested and charged for donation extortion.
