TWO MORE NEA OFFICIALS ARRESTED IN TRANSFORMER IMPORT SCAM
Kathmandu, 7 Aug.: Two more officials of
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA(gave been dragged into the agency’s investigation of a scam for importing sub-standard transformers from China and Thailand.
Managers Kailash Prasad Atal and Shekar Kumar Datta,have also been
arrested
Five NEA officials were arrested and charged by CIAA for causing the
agency millions of rupees in loss for importing transformers made of
aluminum instead of copper..
Two Chinese suppliers were also arrested this week ..

EIGHT PARTY REQUESTS REJECTED
Kathmandu, 7 Aug.:
For the first time election commission (EC) Tuesday
rejected applications of eight parties Tuesday for recognition
for the
19 November assembly elections.
The parties didn’t meet commission requirements, the agency
said.
EC rejected applications of Nepal Jana Loktantra Party,
Nepal Republic Party, Bahujan
Samaj Party and Rastriya Jana Congress Nepal Party.
