INDIAN POLICE ON ALERT AFTER TUNDA ARREST IN FAR-WEST BORDER
Kathmandu, 18 Aug..: The Indian police have
intensified checking in Banbasa, an Indian market sharing border with western
Nepal,
following the arrest of Abdul Karim Tunda whose name figures in the list of
top-20 terrorists, RSS reports from Kanchanpur..
Seventy-year-old Tunda, an alleged member of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) group is in the India´s most wanted list and was arrested by the Indian police from Banbasa area on Friday. He has been accused of helping mastermind the 1993 Mumbai blasts and over 40 other deadly bomb attacks across the country. Tunda is accused of being a ´well-known´ LeT explosive expert and terrorist. The Indian Police was searching for him for his alleged role in 1993 serial Mumbai blasts which killed at least 250 people in a single day. Police have intensified patrolling in the area and sniffer dogs have been used for the security purpose. However, Nepali workers returning home from different cities in India have complained that checking by the Indian police on border has caused inconvenience for them. They have accused India´s Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) personnel of charging them INR 100 to 500 in the name of checking. |

CA POLLS AS SCHEDULED SAYS DAHAL

Aug.: Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that
the election to the second Constituent Assembly (CA) would be held on the
stipulated date on November 19 at any cost, RSS reports from Janakpurdham..
Dahal expressed the view while talking to mediapersons at Janakpur Airport today.
The UCPN (Maoist) chairman said that the government has been holding talks with Mohan Baidya and added that he will also hold talks with Baidya on Monday and after that it would be finalized whether or not the front led by Baidya would participate in the elections

EXAMINEES LOOTED IN KHOTANG

Aug,: Examinees of Public Service Commission (PSC) from Rukum and Jajarkot
districts returning from Khotang, have been looted, RSS reports from Khotang..
They were returning home after giving examinations of Assistant Health Workers (AHW) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM).
They were looted Saturday evening near the Manamaya Rai Khanidanda Airport at Khalle after examination of AHW on that day, said District Police Office Khotang DSP Govind Saha.
The group of the miscreants beat the 17 examinees and looted cash Rs. 21,000 and ornaments, said DSP Saha.
Some examinees are injured when they tried to run away. Police has taken under control 13 local youths for suspicion of looting.

ROLPA MAN DIES AFTER THRASHING

Aug.: A person died due to thrashing at Iribang in Rolpa district Saturday
night.The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Budha, 21, of Iribang-2, said
police, RSS reports from Rolpa..
Some youths of the village thrashed Budha in a minor dispute surfaced over the swing installed on the occasion of the Ghiu Khane (ghee eating) Sankranti on Saturday.
Sub-Inspector Mohan Bahadur Saud said that Budha died on the spot in the incident.
Further details of the incident have not been ascertained yet, said police. A police team led by Sub-Inspector Birendra Bikram BK from the District Police Office has left towards the incident site for further investigation, Saud added.
Those involved in the incident have not been arrested so far as the incident site is one-day´s walk away from the district headquarters.The body is being brought to the District Hospital for postmortem, it is learnt. Budha was member of the UCPN (Maoist).
