DCBL upgraded

Kathmandu, 24 May: Development Credit Bank Ltd (DCBL) has been upgraded to “A” grade commercial bank
DCBL will begin operation as a commercial bank from Sunday.
The bank has a paid-up capital of Rs 1.1 billion and was launched 1 February 2001.

Climbers killed on Everest, Annapurna

Kathmandu, 24 May: Mount Everest and Annapurna claimed two more lives this week.
Swiss climber Uwe Gianni Goltz, 44, died while trying to climb the 8848 meters high Mount Everest Friday when 22 climbers stepped on the simmit of the world’s tallest peak.
Ignacio Ochoa de Olza ‘Inaki’, 40, died on the 8091 meters high Annapurna, the world’s 10th peak, the ministry said.
The Spanish climber has climbed 1 of the world’s 14 eight thousand meter high peaks and had ambitions to climb all 14 to the top peaks.

US writer Ian Baker placed on a wanted list

Kathmandu, 24 May: Nepal Government has put US writer and explorer Ian Baker on its wanted list.
Police Friday recovered body parts of endangered species like tiger and snow leopard and artifacts from two homes in the capital after a raid.
Baker contributed to Newsweek and National Geographic.
Rajesh Maharjan, Baker’s landlord, has been arrested.
