General-Secretary Ban arrives Friday

Kathmandu, 31 Oct: General Secretary Ban Ki-moon arrived in Nepal Friday on the third leg of a four-nation Asian tour to discuss with Nepalese leaders UN operations, including concluding the peace process before a UNMIN mission ends in the third week of January 2009.
The peace process has run into trouble and is doubtful if it conclude before the UNMIN mission ends in January 2009.
Main opposition Nepali Congress which brokered a peace agreement with rebel Maoists in New Delhi is now opposed to the integration of the former combatants in the Nepal Army.
Ban arrives from India where he arrived from Philippines and will cap his Asia visit by visiting Bangladesh Saturday.
Ban will hold immediate discussions with Prime Minister Prachanda after arriving on a special flight from the Indian capital.

43 injured in a bus fall

Kathmandu, 31 Oct: Forty-three persons were injured in a bus fall into Trisuli river at Benibhat in Dhading Friday morning.
Six of the seriously injured have been rushed to the capital for emergency treatment.

Govt. offices reopen

Kathmandu, 31 Oct: Government offices reopened Friday after three-day tihar celebrations.
With the opening of government offices, the festive dasain and tihar celebrations 2065 concluded Friday.
