Violence continue sin tarai

Kathmandu, 13 Oct: Loknath Gaire,28, a teacher was shot dead, Thursday at his home in Biruwaguthi VDC near Birgunj by an armed group.
Two persons were in a bomb blast at Pashupatinagar in Mohottari Sunday.

Saudi Arabia to open embassy

Kathmandu, 13 Oct: Saudi Arabia is to open an embassy in Nepal within this fiscal, The Kathmandu Post reports from Qatar.
According to an official at the Saudi embassy in Qatar, the Saudi government plans to establish its embassy in Kathmandu to resolve the problems of Nepali workers and strengthen bilateral ties with Nepal.

US won’t relax policy towards Maoists

Washington, 12 Oct: The United States has said that it will continue to support the newly elected government in Nepal, but will not change its policy on the CPN-Maoist which js on he US terror list, Milan Mani Sharma reports in The Kathmandu Post.
The US statement not to immediately review its position on theMaoists came when Finance Minister and Maoist second-in-command Dr Baburam Bhattarai met with US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher.
During the meeting held the day before, Boucher said that the US was closely watching the activities of the Maoists. He also stated that the US would read the activities of the CPN –Maoist sister organizations as those of the party itself, said a source.
‘We had expected the CPN-UML to come out as the largest party in the Constituent Assembly and were surprised with the outcome,” he quoted Boucher as telling Boucher the finance minister.
Meanwhile, Nepal on Saturday sought budgetary support of 450million dollars from the World Bank to finance education, health and other social sector programmes for the next three years.
