Rebellion threat in Maoist PLA

By Bhola B Rana

Kathmandu, 4 Nov: Differences have surfaced amongst Maoist commanders in camps after integration of PLA became a national issue, Mohan Budhair reports in Kantipur.
They are awaiting a decision by the political leadership on integration.
‘A debate has started whether to wholly accept the political decision or rebel,” one division commander told Kantipur.
Differences have surfaced among ranks above brigadier.
Before tihar, Peace Minister Janardhan Sharma Prabhakar, military commander Nanda Krishna Pun Pasang, CA member and commander Barsha Man Pun Ananta and Chandra Deb Khanal Baldeb visited the seventh division for an internal discussion.
The difference surfaced then when the idea of a referendum was also proposed to sort out the difference.
Hardliner 7th division commander Mahendra Bahadur Shahi Prajawalla has even threatened rebellion if there’s no agreement on integration.
A general staff meeting of Maoists was held in the capital last week when Bista threatened a rebellion.
A referendum came up as a solution.
Integration on basis of personal qualification wasn’t acceptable to Prajawalla.
He proposed a single headquarter command and separate brigade commands and opposed integrating Maoist commandants in different Nepal Army units.
