PM inaugurates human rights meet

Kathmandu, 30 Nov: Prime Minister Prachanda Sunday
inaugurated a two-day consultative meeting of SAARC national human rights commissions.
The meeting is discussing the protection and promotion of child rights in the eight-nation South Asian region.

Promiscuous Nepali society

Kathmandu, 30 Nov: According to a study, 67percent Nepali teens engage in sex before crossing 17 yearsof age, RSS reports.
Among the surveyed teens, only15 percent said they sued condoms during their first sex.
Around half of the teens said they had sexual relations with one or two female partners.
On girls’ side, around one third said they also had sex with one or two partners. The population of teens accounts for 33 percent of the total population in Nepal.

No integration without dissolution of YCL: Girija

Kathmandu, 30 Nov: Main Opposition leader Girija Prasad Koirala Sunday said he’ll stop integration of Maoist PLA and Nepal army until YCL is dissolved.
He told this to reporters in Kaski.
“Nobody has given YCL a right to kill and bury people,” Koirala said referring to abduction of two Kathmandu youth in neighbouring Dhading.
Koirala said in Pokhara he’ll never permit the integration of YCL and Nepal Army.
Meanwhile, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Kedar Upadhaya Sunday demanded youth forces affiliated with political parties should be dissolved.
The former chief justice, in a strong statement, said political parties are protecting criminal elements and added rule of law has been ridiculed.

Makawanpur industries reopen

Kathmandu, 30 Nov: Nearly 60 industries re-opened opened in Makwanpur Sunday after closure of several days. Management agreed to give Rs 1,300 to industrial workers as well after a pay hike for government officials.
Maoist unions pushed the demands.
