PM Prachanda, Manmohan Singh hold discussions

Kathmandu, 13 Nov: Prime Minister Prachanda held discussions on bilateral issues with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in New Delhi where he arrives Wednesday to attend a summit of BIMSTEC member states, Radio Nepal said.
Prachanda called on Singh at his residence on his second visit to New Delhi in three months.
The visiting prime minister will address the eight-nation second summit Thursday before returning home Friday.
A meeting of foreign ministers Wednesday decided to establish a BIMSTEC tourism center in Nepal.
Foreign Ministers Upendra Yadav and Pranab Mukherjee also reviewed bilateral relations in the Indian capital, Nepal embassy said.

Om Sharma press, communication advisor of PM

Kathmandu, 13 Nov: Om Sharma has been appointed press and communication advisor of the prime minister, an official announcement said Wednesday.
Sharma resigned as chairman of Gorkhapatra Sansthan—a job he held for 16months--to take up his new assignment.

Youth shot dead in Bara; other details

Kathmandu, 13 Nov: The body of a youth was found in Bara Wednesday as violence continues in the terai.
He was killed Tuesday by unknown persons.
A boy was abducted from his home in Mohottari Wednesday.
Jwala Singh of the Janatantrik Mukti Morcha said Wednesday he’s ready to sit down for talks with government and isn’t against negotiations to resolve regional demands.
The Singh is the most violent group operating in the terai.
A continuing strike for the third day in central terai districts by so-called backward classes demanding reservation disrupted vehicular movement in Saptari and Siraha districts for the third consecutive day Wednesday.

Kamal Thapa says RPP-nepal will work for restoration of monarchy

Kathmandu, 13 Nov: RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa Wednesday told a journalist delegation his party will work for the restoration of monarchy within the framework of the constitution.
Thapa said a people’s republic in not attainable.
He added government was not keen in drafting a constitution and an accident was imminent without it.

No discussion of state compensation for Maoist victims

Kathmandu, 13 Nov: NC Spokesman Arjun Narsingh KC said Wednesday there was no discussion in the Nepali Congress on compensating Maoist victims through state coffers.
KC said a discussion of few people with Maoists isn’t acceptable to the party.
He also said state compensation for seized assets by Maoists was illegal and against the concept of the rule of law.
Prime Minister Prachanda assured Tuesday the state will give compensation to people whose assets were seized were seized by Maoists.
