Cabinet clarifies Tharus not included in Madeshi community

Kathmandu, 4 March: Government Minister Ganesh Shah said after a cabinet meeting Wednesday government hadn’t bracketed Tharus as Madeshis.
This was a government attempt to address demands of Tharus to be de-listed from the group to end a prolonged strike in the terai that is disturbing normal life.
Shah said government will take a final decision after detailed cabinet discussion.

Far-west two have two more universities


Kathmandu, 4 March: Cabinet Wednesday decided to establish two more universities in the far-West in another attempt to quell student protests.
Students went on violent protests in Kanchanpur demanding a university be set up in the district after a government decision to shift a university to Surkhet in the mid-West,
Local authorities lifted an overnight curfew in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, Wednesday morning.
