Parliament session adjourned again until Saturday

Kathmandu, 8 April: Parliament session was adjourned again until Friday.
The session was adjourned for the fourth consecutive time in two weeks.
Before adjournment, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML lawmakers charged a Maoist decision to expel Sujit BK from the party was a drama.
The parliament couldn’t take up official business.
A Maoist secretariat meeting took the decision Wednesday amid obstruction of cabinet and parliamentary meetings by CPN-UML, Nepali Congress and other parties pressing various demands.
Maoists said BK escaped as he was being handed to National Human Rights Commission and not police where he should normally have been delivered.
Maoists first said BK was not involved in the murder of a CPN-UML activist.
CPN-UML has been boycotting meetings of cabinet and parliamentary meetings demanding arrest and action against BK; Nepali Congress has been demanding a statement in parliament on return of seized assets and other demands.
Maoist Spokesman Dinanath Sharma charged CPN-UML for behaving like an opposition party in government.
The charge was ridiculed by a CPN-UML leader who leveled the same charge against Maoists when they were in the government of Girija Prasad Koirala.
Maoists even threaten street and revolution while leading government.

Contempt of court charge registered against PM Prachanda

Kathmandu, 8 April: A contempt of court charge was registered at the supreme court Wednesday against Prime Minister Prachanda Finance Minister Dr Babauram Bhattarai and four other Maoist leaders after anti-court statements and demonstrations.
The Maoist reaction came after the apex court asked the Maoist-led government to reinstate eight brigadier generals whose tenure was terminated by the defence ministry even as the Nepal Army suggested extension of service.
Action was demanded in a plea by Murari Kumar Sharma.

S. Yadav was murdered in Siraha as violence continues in the region.

By-election results on Saturday

Kathmandu, 8 April: Outcome of by-elections for six parliamentary constituencies will be announced Saturday.
Elections are being held Friday after campaigning ended Wednesday night.
The Election Commission said Wednesday all preparations for the vote have been completed as security along the Nepal-India border has been increased before lections in India and Nepal.
The Commission has asked UNMIN to ensure Maoist combatants under its watch on 28 cantonments and satellite camps don’t come out of camps to influence the vote.
A public holiday has been in five districts Friday on voting day.

Technical committee on army integration consults Maoist commandants

Kathmandu, 8 April: For the first time, an eight-member technical committee of four biggest ruling and opposition parties on integration of Maoist combatants in Nepal Army Wednesday held discussions with Maoist commandants.
The meeting was held at a Maoist fourth division under UNMIN supervision in Nawalparasi.
The team was led by Maoist Commander and member of the technical team Barsha Man Pun Ananta.
The committee has already concluded integration of former rebel former into Nepal Army isn’t possible in the next three months.
The technical team held discussions with UNMIN officials in the capital before the dialogue.
UNMIN is pressurizing government to complete integration before its mandate ends in June.
Main opposition Nepali Congress has been critical of UNMIN’s activities in Nepal.
