PM holding discussions with major parties

Kathmandu, 5 April: PM Prachanda is holding discussions with major political parties in an attempt to run parliamentary proceedings smoothly.
Nepali Congress, ruling coalition partner CPN-UML and TMLP have been obstructing house proceedings protesting Maoist behaviour.
CPN-UML is demanding action against an identified alleged killer of its student activist in Butwal; the party has also been boycotting cabinet meetings.
Seventeen small parties in parliament are also holding discussions Sunday to discuss disruptions of parliamentary proceedings.

Five committees submitting constitution report Sunday

Kathmandu, 5 April: A constitution committee drafting the constitution is discussing a report of five-subcommittees on a proposed constitution.
The reports were presented Saturday to the main committee headed by Madhav Kumar Nepal,
The committees had collected reports from districts; public response wasn’t good amid complaints of difficult questions asked.

Hearing on brigadiers Sunday

Kathmandu, 5 April: A bench of the supreme court is Sunday hearing a government request to reconsider an earlier decision of the apex court asking the government not implement a decision to terminate the tenure of eight brigadier generals.
The brigadiers have started attending office after the court verdict.
Relations between government and Nepal Army have soured over the issue.

Appa Sherpa again attempting to scale Everest


Kathmandu, 5 April: Appa Sherpa is attempting this spring to improve a world record by attempting to scale the 8848meters high Mount Everest for the 19th time.
Ministry of Tourism has given permits to 49 expeditions to climb Himalayan peaks in Nepal this spring.
Most of the teams have left the capital for the mountains.
