22 parties hold discussions

Kathmandu, 28 May: Twenty-two parties held discussions Thursday on a common minimum programme of a government led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.
The parties also discussed sharing ministerial berths.
Nepal has only appointed Bidya Bhandari and Surendra Pandey ministers for defence and finance respectively.
Maoists secretariat Thursday also discussed strategy after being ousted from government after nine months in office.
Maoists have decided to oppose the government in parliament and street.
PM Prachanda who was seeking the sack of Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal had to resign instead.
Nepal, in an address to the nation, Wednesday praised the roles of the president and the Nepal Army the CPN-UML once despised.
Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, the second and third largest parties, now sing the army’s praise after vehemently criticizing it as a security agency that supported the king.

Kathmandu, 28 May: Madhav Kumar Nepal shifts to the official residence of the prime minister at Baluwatar Thursday.
Nepal was elected government head Saturday.

Nepal invited to India

Kathmandu, 28 May: Manmohan Singh, who was elected for a second term af India’s prime minister, has invited Nepal to visit New Delhi at a convenient time.
Singh extended the invitation in a congratulatory message to Nepal.

First Limbu woman scales Everest

Kathmandu, 28 May: Climbers waiting to scale Mount Everest retreated from base camp this week after three feet snow lashed the Everest region.
The Everest marathon has been affected.
Three brothers: Pemba Dorje Sherpa, 28, Nima Gaylzen Sherpa, 23, and Phurba Tenzing Sherpa, 20, abandoned their record-breaking feat to spend 24 hours atop Everest after the storm.
Junita Sambahamphe 19May became the first woman to scale Mount Everest, the 8848meters high world’s tallest peak.
