Ambassadors express concern

Kathmandu, 2 July: Ambassadors from China, France, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom and USA Wednesday expressed concern at the expected progress anticipated in a UN security council resolution wasn’t achieved on the with UNMIN chief Karin Landgren at a collective meeting, the British embassy said.
The resolution 1864 extended the mandate of the UNMIN until 23 July.
The secretary general is preparing another Nepal report on 13 July as the security council discusses Nepal on 20 July.
Nepal has extended the UNMIN mandate for the fourth time to complete the peace process and help integrate 19,000 Maoist peace process.
Landgren and former UNMIN Chief Ian Martin discussed the delayed peace process, UNMIN and the formation of a special committee to integrate Maoist combatants with Dr Baburam Bhattarai Wednesday.

12 Nepalis killed

Kathmandu, 2 July: Twelve Nepalis were killed Tuesday as a vessel capsized in the Persian Gulf off Doha, the foreign ministry said.
All bodies have been recovered.
The vessel sank is three minutes.
The Nepalis were working for Doha-based HKB Power Cleaning.

He was 80.

Landslides kill nine

Kathmandu, 2 July: Landslides overnight killed nine persons, including three children in Mugu.
Three members of a family were buried alive in Tamahu while three others were buried in neighbouring Kaski.
Delayed monsoon has now covered the entire country.

CPN-UML appoints party supporters in govt. media


Kathmandu, 2 July: Government has appointed supporters and activists of CPN-UML in key government media outlets.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal hails from CPN-UML.
Bijaya Chalise and Shambu Shrestha have been appointed chairman and general manager respectively of Gorkhapatra Sansthan while Kundan Aryal has been appointed chairman of Nepal Television.
Balkrishna Chapagain has been appointed chairman of Rashtriya Samacher Samiti.
All governments since 1990 have been appointing party loyalists in key government media outlets to push party interest.
