Ban Ki-moon recommends another six-month UMNIN extension

Kathmandu, 18 July: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has recommended in a report to the security council another six-month extension of UNMIN mandate that ends 23 July.
The council will decide on the recommendation.
Government has asked the UN to extend the mandate to complete the delayed peace process and integrate Maoist combatants in society and Nepal Army.
Maoists have objected to integration of 4,003 disqualified Maoists under UN watch at 28 camps and cantonments.
The process started his week after pressure from the international community.

Girija charge

Kathmandu, 18 July: Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala angrily said Maoists will be wiped out for ‘abandoning the politics of unity, cooperation and understanding’ .
“Let’s move ahead unitedly,” he told a public meeting in Jhapa.
Maoists disturbed the unveiling of a pillar dedicated to those killing during the last popular movement at Birtamodh, Jhapa, Saturday.
More than two dozen people were injured in clashes as police lobbed teargas shells to control a mob.
