Maoists oppose reorganization of special integration committee

Kathmandu, 14 July: Maoists have opposed Monday’s reorganization of a special committee to integrate and resettle 19,000 plus Maoist combatants in camps under UN supervision.
The committee headed by former Prime Minister Prachanda is now headed by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Maoist Spokesman Dinanath Sharma told BBC the ‘unilateral’ reorganization was ‘unconstitutional’ and against the ‘spirit of consensus’.
Sharma said his party was ‘surprised’ against the cabinet decision ‘ against the spirit of the peace agreement’
The spokesman also said integration cannot be implemented without consensus.
He also called for ‘bilateral understanding’ for integration of the former combatants.

Five more swine flu cases reported (BREAKING NEWS)

Kathmandu, 14 July: Five more cases of swine flu were reported in the capital Tuesday by health authorities,
An Australian is among the sick.
Total reported cases have now risen to 14.
The new patients have been isolated for medical treatment; their identities have been kept a secret.

Civil servants padlock finance ministry gate

Kathmandu, 14 July: Dissatisfied civil servants demanding increased salary to meet inflation cost Tuesday padlocked the main gate of the finance ministry obstructing government work.
Finance Minister Surendra Pandey didn’t announce a hike while presenting the annual budget for 1009/10 Monday; only allowances were increased.
Pandey later said the demands will be discussed through negotiations.
