Army chief stays of home leave prior to retirement

Kathmandu, 5 Aug: Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal
is going on one month’s home leave prior to retirement, Annapurna Post reports.
Katawal’s term expires 10 September.
Request for leave was sent to the defence ministry Tuesday.
“I’ve heard a request for leave has arrived,” said defence spokesman Shridhar Pokhrel.

Prachanda visiting UK

Kathmandu, 5 Aug: Maoist Chairman Prachanda is for the first time visiting United Kingdom, Kantipur reports.
He is addressing a meeting organized by Nepalis there.
Wife Sita and son Prakash are accompanying Dahal.
The programme planned for Shrawan ending 26 August may be delayed as the chairman has to address nation-wide political training camps.

Dr Madan Bhattarai back at foreign ministry

Kathmandu, 5 Aug: Dr Madan Bhattarai was Tuesday transferred back to the foreign ministry after his transfer as secretary to the Prime Minister’s and the Council of Minister’s Office.
Dr Bhattarai was sent to the Prime Minister’s Office after his promotion.
Foreign ministry now has two secretaries-- Dr Bhattarai and Gyan Chandra Acharya.
