Nine more people die of diarrhea/cholera in mid, far-West

Kathmandu, 5 Aug: Nine more people died of diarrhea/cholrea in Jajarkot, Bhajang and Dailekh Wednesday amid reports WFP distributed contaminated grains and lentils triggering a deadly epidemic that has claimed more than 300 live in three months.
Five more persons died in Jajarkot where 189 lives have been claimed so far; three persons died in Bhajang and one in Dailekh where the death toll has reached 17.
UN agencies WFP and WHO denied reports epidemic was aggravated by contaminated grains that received widespread publicity Wednesday.
Death toll in Jajarkot and Dailekh has reached 206 as the epidemic continues unabated.
More than half a dozen districts have been affected in the mid and far-West.

Capital tense over deaths of six Indians in vehicular accident

Kathmandu, 5 Aug: Areas around Bhotahity, Bir Hospital and Indian embassy was tense after six Indians were killed in a vehicular accident next to Rani Pokhari Wednesday morning.
Spontaneous protests and clashes broke out in the area and in front of the Indian embassy injuring more that a dozen people.
Vehicular traffic was disrupted the whole day.
Home Minister, in a statement to calm protestors, said immediate action will be taken to punish guilty.
Home Minister Bhim Rawal visited the disturbed area.
