8th cabinet change in offing

Kathmandu, 3 Sept: An 8th cabinet change is in the offing when three ministers of TMLP didn’t join the expanded 42-member cabinet led by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Wednesday as expected.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new ministers wasn’t attended by government representatives of the Nepali Congress-the second largest party in government.
This could indicate Congress dissatisfaction with the Nepal government although one Congress minister said party government team was absent because of a central committee meeting.

The Congress president said Thursday the life of the government now depends of the actions of the prime minister showing his dissatisfaction
Girija said Wednesday he’s contemplating drastic action to what he called a political emergency in the country.
The cabinet is the second largest after restoration of multi-party system in 1990.
Sher Bahadur Deuba assembled the largest council of ministers with 47 members to satisfy demands of small groups to maintain a majority in parliament.
Nepal, like Deuba, leads a shaky alliance to retain majority in parliament dominated by Maoists who have predicted an immediate fall in government as they lead a three-month street and parliamentary protest against what they call a presidential and military coup.
Nepal already confronted by a language issue with the refusal of Vice-president to take an oath of office in Nepali will face additional problems when two new abductees in government took an oath recited by Nepali in Nepali in Abadhi and Hindi.
This oath in Abadhi and Hindi will be certainly challenged at the supreme court as an unconstitutional act.
Nine ministers, ministers of state and assistant ministers were inducted.
Indra Prasad Dhungel of Rashtriya Janasakti Party (RJP) was appointed minister of state of science with independent charge of the ministry; RJP is the second party associated with the ousted panchayat system included in a government after the movement in 2006.
The complete dominance of seven parties after 2006 has ended; India also no longer pushes a government of seven parties.

Nepal gains one stop in FIFA ranking

Kathmandu, 3 Sept: Nepal has been ranked in 175 position in ranking by world soccer governing FIFA gaining one spot from the previous month.
Nepal is above Afghanistan and Bhutan in SAARC region ranking but behind Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Maldives.

NSC officials sacked

Kathmandu, 3 Sept: Government has sacked treasurer Ajar Manandhar and member Niran Khadka of National Sports Council (NSC).
They were nominees of the CPN-UML in a previous government.
Sports ministry which controls NCSC is now under TMLP.
Taraak Mani Dixit has been appointed secretary of Cricket Association of Nepal by NSC.
