Chairman Nemwang to discuss 6th rescheduling of constitution drafting
Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Chairman Subawh Nemwang will discuss Sunday the 6th rescheduling for completing a concept of a draft constitution with whips of political parties.
The draft should have been completed by Sunday.
Five of 10 subject committees are yet to submit their proposals.
Parties differ even on fundamentals with Maoists pushing a federal communist state opposed by others.
Nemwang said a new schedule will be discussed without changing the deadline to launch a constitution by mid-May 2010.
“It is not the time to wrestle but to set the rules for wrestling that is acceptable to all wrestlers,” said newly elected chairman of the main constitution drafting committee Nilambar Acharya.
Acharya was elected to the seat vacated by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal four months ago.

Special committee on integration to meet
Kathmandu, 6 Sept: A special committee on the proposed integration of
19,000 Maoist combatants in society and security forces in the next six months will meet for the second time Sunday.
The committee headed by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was reconstituted with two Maoist members last week.
The integration has been delayed with Maoists insisting on mass integration in Nepal Army—rejected by other major parties.

Nepali Congress central committee meeting
Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Nepali Congress central committee is meeting Sunday to discuss party issues as well as the rescheduling date for submitting a proposed draft of a new constitution.
The powerful committee meets after President Girija Prasad Koirala asked for rescheduling a party general congress in Birgunj from 1 to 3 November ahead of the 12th general convention in early 2010 to elect a new leadership.
The committee is meeting amid internal differences on promoting Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala to deputy prime minister—a proposal pushed by her father President Girija.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal rejected the Koirala proposal drawing ire from the former prime minister who warned publicly the future of the government depended on the performance of Nepal..
The committee will also discuss distribution of active membership andother party issues.

Prachanda to launch intensified ant-govt. campaign
Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Chairman Prachanda will launched an intensified anti- government public campaign from Biratnagar Sunday.
Themaoist chairman will launch the campaign from the hometown of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala by addressing a public meeting.
Top party leaders are addressing public meetings at various urban centers outside the capital as well in an extended campaign for what they call the restoration of civilian rule.

Nepal to discuss peacekeeping with Obama
Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has been invited to discuss international peacekeeping by US President Barrack Obama during the sidelines of the UN general assembly session in New York later this month.
Nepal is among 10 government leaders invited to attend the meeting.
An invitation was delivered to the prime minister last week by US embassy charge d’affaires Geoffrey Moon.

Second Gurkha elected in UK
Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Tashi Bhutia, Britain’s first Tory Gurkha, has won a local council election, agencies report out of London.
The Nepali ex-serviceman, who will represent the Luton and Wayfiekd ward, received 1,042 votes, just four ahead of a rival Labour candidate in a turnout of 30 percent.
He is the second ever Gurkha councillor after Liberal Democrat Dhan Gurung was elected in 2007 to serve his local community in Folkestone.

Jhalanath Khanal; submits backdated application to save parliamentary seat
Kathmandu, 6 Sept: CPN-UML Chairman JhalanathKhanal, to save his parliamentary seat after absenting himself from meetings of the legislature for a long time, has cheated, Naya Patrika reports.
He filed a letter at the legislature Friday for leave backdating the application by one month.
But Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal also Friday filed a similar application dated 4 September.
Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala filed an application 1 September. Khanal filed an application only after Koirala.
Maoist, Congress, MJFL,MJF, TMLP and NSP top leaders have absented themselves for more than 10 consecutive meetings; such absentees can forfeit their parliamentary seats.
