Prachanda, Girija meet

Kathmandu, 17 Nov: Chairman Prachanda will hold political consultations with ailing Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala at a hospital in Singapore Tuesday.
Prachanda flew to the island Monday for consultations and party work.
The Maoist chairman returns home Wednesday.
Meanwhile, ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML leaders discussed Tuesday an outlet to a six-month obstruction of house proceedings by Maoists.
CPN-UML parliamentary party meets alter Tuesday as well.
Government is facing a financial crisis as the annual budget 2009/10 hasn’t been approved by parliament with the obstruction of parliamentary party proceedings.
Results of Koirala’s medical tests are expected Tuesday, according to nephew Dr Shekhar Koirala.

Parsa gets new CDO
Kathmandu, 17 Nov: Joint Secretary Yadav Koirala at the home ministry has been appointed Parsa CDO.
He replaces Durga Prasad Bhandari who has been recalled.
Bhandari was assaulted by State Minister for Agriculture Karima Begum.
Even as officials asked government to take action against her, the minister charged the CDO for touching her against Muslim tradition.
Officials protested a government plan to seen an apology from the minister.

Prices of kerosene, diesel hiked
Kathmandu, 17 Nov: Prices of diesel and kerosene was hiked Tuesday by Rs 3 a liter.
A liter will now cost Rs 58.

RBB records Rs 319.1 million profit
Kathmandu, 17 Nov: Rashtriya Banijya Bank (RBB), Nepal’s largest commercial bank, recorded a net profit of Rs 319.1 million in Q1 of the current fiscal year.
The bank is wholly owned by the government.

Load-shedding hours extended
Kathmandu, 17 Nov: Weekly load-shedding will be extended from 12 to 16 hours a week from Wednesday.
Nepal Electricity Authority said power demand had increased with the onset of winter and river levels were falling.
