Maoists declaring two more autonomous republics

Kathmandu, 13 Dec: Maoists are declaring two more autonomous regions Sunday.
The main opposition is declaring the Tharuwan and Seti-Mahakali autonomous regions in themed-West.
Politburo members CP Gajurel and Lilamani Pokhrl ar declaring the autonomous regions in Nepalgunj and Doti.
Maoists have declared Limbuwan and Kochila autonomous regions in the East; altogether 13 autonomous regions are being declared.
Other parties opposed to the declaration has called a strike in the far-West..
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said the declaration is a disgrace of the constituent assembly (CA) and against the spirit of the peace agreement between seven parties and Maoists asking the maian opposition to withdraw the declaration.
But Maoists said the publicity campaign for autonomous regions reflects the spirit of the interim constitution which envisages a new federal structure.

200 families evicted in Kapilvasthu

Kathmandu, 13 Dec: Local administration in Kapilbasthu Sunday evicted nearly 200 families who felled a community forest and settled there.
The district forest office was assisted by Armed Police Force and Nepal Police.
The evictions follow displacement of 20,000 Maoist squatters in Kailali.

Chief Justice assumes office

Kathmandu, 13 Dec: Chief Justice Anup Raj Sharma assumed office Sunday for a short three-and-a-half month tenure.
He succeeds Min Bahadur Rayamajhi was superannuated Saturday.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sharma Sunday.

Maj. Niranjan Basnet being presented at Kavre district court

Kathmandu, 13 Dec: Major Niranjan Basnet is being produced before the Kavre district court Sunday.
He was arrested by military police Saturday at the international airport after disembarking from a place.
UN sent him base from Chad where he was attacked with the Nepali contingent with the UN peacekeeping mission.
He was hounded out by the UN even as the army first said he was not involved in the murder of a teenage girl in Kavre during the Maoist insurgency.
The UN sent him back saying he was convicted by a district court for human rights abuse.
Government has succumbed to international pressure.
The so-called international community hasn’t demonstrated commensurate with Maoist excesses and abuses even encouraging its involvement in government.
