Three party leaders meet again Tuesday

Kathmandu, 15 Dec.: Three party leaders are meeting again Tuesday to end a six-month political deadlock.
Leaders are meeting for the second time in two days
Chairman Prachanda, Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala and UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal will met to end the prolonged deadlock.
Top leaders say they are close to an agreement to draft a common acceptable resolution in parliament to address Maoist demand for addressing the president’s to retain sacked Army Chief Gen Rukmangun Katawal.
Maoists say a ceremonial president shouldn’t have acted at the request of 18 political parties.

Schedule to be changed again

Kathmandu, 15 Dec: A schedule to submit recommendations to be incorporated in a constitution has to be extended for the eighth time.
Eight of 11 subject committees failed to submit their recommendations by the deadline Tuesday.
There was also no unanimity in recommendations of eight committees.

Teacher shot dead in Rautahat

Kathmandu, 15 Dec.: A Madeshi teacher was shot dead Tuesday morning by an unidentified gang in Rautahat,
He was identified as Manoj Patil.
Ram Tiwari was shot dead in Kapilvasthu Monday.

Army Chief appointed honourary general of Indian Army

Kathmandu, 15 Dec.: Visiting Army Chief Gen Chatraman Gurung was appointed Monday honourary general of the Indian army Monday --- a move indicating restoration of broken military ties between the armies of the two South Asian nations.
President Prathiva Patil conferred the honour in New Delhi.
Ties were snapped during the royal regime before 2005.
The army chief is discussing resumption of arms supplies during the visit.

Chinese military delegation arriving

Kathmandu, 15 Dec: A six-member Chinese military headed by a major general and deputy director of the foreign department of the defence ministry is arriving Tuesday.
The visit comes immediately after the recent of another military delegation from Tibet.
The delegation is scheduled talks with Army Chief Gen Chatraman Singh Gurung after his return from India.

Kathmandu, 15 Dec.: EU through WFP has extended Rs 880 million food assistance to reduce negative effect of high food prices in 10 rural areas of l0 districts across the country.

Alpine Air to start flights to Delhi

Kathmandu, 15 Dec.: Alpine will start daily flights between Kathmandu and New Delhi from the third week of January using an Airbus A319-100.
The aircraft is being leased from Bahrain Air.
