Two more autonomous regions declared

Kathmandu, 16 Dec.: Maoists Wednesday declared two more autonomous regions amid protests of other parties.
Maoists said the declaration is not against the spirit of the comprehensive peace treaty or the powers of the constituent assembly.
Chairman Prachanda declared a Newa autonomous state from Basantapur in the capital while Dr Baburam Bhattarai declared a Tamsaning state in Nuwakot.
Maoists now have 10 of 13 autonomous regions.

Prof Saubhagya Jung Shah dead

Kathmandu, 16 Dec.: Prof, Saubgahya Jung Shah was cremated Tuesday after he died Monday following a third attack.
Shah taught armed conflict at Tribhuvan University.
He worked briefly with the Rising Nepal and was a regular coloumnist.
Shah was 42.

Maoist settlers evicted

Kathmandu, 16 Dec.: Police Wednesday forcibly evicted hundreds of Maoists from a land in Gaidakot, Nawalparasi, belonging to Congress leader Surya Bhakta Adhikari.
Maoists captured the land in a nation-wide drive Tuesday.

Deuba says he’s in-charge in Congress

Kathmandu, 16 Dec.: Sher Bahadur Deuba claimed Wednesday he’s in-charge of the Nepali Congress following the ill-health of President Girija Prasad Koirala.
The statement reflects the serious health condition of the former five-time prime minister.
Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel is Deuba’s rival in the party.
Paudel defeated Deuba in elections for the leadership of the parliamentary party.
Deuba returned to the capital Wednesday after a week-long tour of the East.
